Deen Atger (They/He)
Deen Atger (born in France) is a trans masc art curator, producer, and performer based in London. Their work primarily explores contemporary and new media art, focusing on identity, gender, and intersectionality at the intersection of virtual worlds and technological innovations.
For Deen, art serves as a vector for dialogue, infused with the stories of its creators, and observed as a multidimensional and inclusive manifestation of time and metamorphic spaces. This ethos guides his artistic proposals and exhibitions.
They are currently the artistic programme curator at Ugly Duck, an experimental creative venue and organisation that champions emerging, underrepresented, and minority voices in visual and performance arts. They are the founder and art director of @Disturbance, an LGBTQIA residency and development program supporting queer artists. Additionally, they are involved in partnerships with various organisations across East Africa through the artistic network and online residencies Off Track, collaborate with the music and art festival Kallida, and sit on the advisory board of the queer space Gut Level in Sheffield.
In 2002 They took part in a residency in Brittany to write and perform a new creation called Traversé.e, at ICE Festival The work takes the form of a lecture – performance exploring the relation and intersection of crossing languages, oceans and gender. Recently, Deen has also embarked on an artistic journey as a performer under the name Deen/ø, where they explore experimental poetry and soundscapes.
